Your Disk Storage
What is disk storage?
CARTO users receive allocated disk space to host their data. Storage is consumed when uploading files, importing database tables, or setting up synchronizations through the Dashboard or API.
Personal Accounts
Individual users have fixed disk space allocations that vary by pricing plan.
Organization Members
Organization administrators set disk quotas for individual members. Premium Data Observatory subscriptions extend storage by up to 2 GB for dataset synchronization, visible in the “Your Usage Metrics” section.
Organization Administrators
Total organizational storage is shared across all users. Admins can adjust individual quotas by:
- Logging into their account
- Clicking the account avatar (top right)
- Selecting “Your organization”
- Navigating to the “users” tab in “Organization settings”
- Selecting a user and modifying their quota
How can I free up disk storage space?
Deleting datasets and tables from your Dashboard is the primary method. The SQL API also supports programmatic deletion.
Note: Deleting a map or map layer will not free up disk space. You have to delete the underlying dataset that was used to create that map or map layer.
How can I buy more storage quota?
Contact CARTO’s support team to request additional storage capacity.
