What Happens After Canceling My Paid Account?

Why do you need this?

  • You want to understand how paid accounts work at CARTO.
  • You are considering canceling your paid account.
  • You have already canceled your paid account.

What happens after canceling?

Your account will be locked and you won’t be able to access it, data and maps included. Additionally, any Builder embedded or iframed map will return a 404 error.

Can I sign back up and access my data and maps?

You retain access to your account through the end of your paid period. For example, if you cancel mid-month but auto-renewal occurs at month’s end, you maintain full access until that date. Once the paid period expires, your account locks, and data remains stored for 90 days before deletion. Opening a 12-month free account afterward is possible, though you must first delete your existing account.

What’s next

You can export your datasets by selecting the Export... option in the Dataset View. For Builder maps, you can download them as .carto files or export layer data using the Export data... option from the layer menu.
