How to Subscribe to Public and Premium Datasets

Overview

Users can subscribe to public datasets instantly or request access to premium datasets through CARTO’s Spatial Data Catalog interface within the dashboard.

Public Datasets

For datasets with public licenses, users can click “Subscribe for free” on the dataset’s Spatial Data Catalog page. The subscription process requires:

  1. Reading and approving the license terms from the data source
  2. Confirming the subscription

Premium Datasets

For premium datasets, users submit a subscription request. CARTO’s expert team then contacts the user to:

  • Explain dataset details
  • Ensure the dataset fits the use case
  • Facilitate a smooth subscription process

Once approved, premium data subscriptions are automatically created, providing access to ready-to-query, continuously updated datasets.

Storage Quota Note

Subscriptions to public datasets consume available data storage quota in the user’s account. For premium data subscriptions, the necessary storage quota is provided by CARTO as part of the premium data license.
